Back in 2012, I met the phenomenal Danielle LaPorte at an event. She made me cry with her intimate real talk and I bought her book, "The Fire Starter Sessions." As soon as I cracked it open, I had to grab a highlighter and a pen because there was much to write on the sidelines and to highlight for easy access at a later time when I needed a refresher.
While I read the book, I sent pictures to the guy who I fell in love with that summer. There were tons about magic and faith and choices. Many of them still sit in my phone because I struggle with deleting images. Of all the pages highlighted and with notes and pictured, it is the quote above that stands out. I have shared it with so many people since 2012. I have quoted it and I even asked for permission to use it by the Danielle LaPorte Team before sharing it with you today.
The reason this one sits so deep and I hold so close is because of the signs that have been bestowed on me. That includes all the hearts that live on this website.
As I shared on my "about" page, the hearts came to me while on a journey in Japan. It was a soul searching journey. It was a journey of knowledge in both a skill and myself. It was a journey of silence - literally - I do not speak Japanese. It was many things and as I spent time doubting a lot of things about myself and my thoughts and my actions and my future, I saw signs. Signs that people might brush off as a coincidence or nothing much, but I do believe that coincidences are signs. With each coincidence or moment that made me stop, wonder and connect, I came back to this quote by Danielle LaPorte.
I've never really been one to ask for a sign, although I'm sure I did a few times as a teenager or in my early 20s, but I've always gone with feelings. How I react to things which to many is not a good way to make decisions, but alas, it has always worked for me. It stops me from regretting decisions because my intuitive-self has led me to that point.
Maybe the signs are nothing more than intuition? Someone once told me, "you see things because you look for them," but I think that is a skeptical way of looking at things. Maybe it's my faith in the energy that flows around me and inspires me, but I tend to think that we see the things that we're meant to see. So many don't know who they are because they've closed that sight off - choosing to not see and/or feel what is vital to their soul's growth.
I spoke to a guy a few months after returning from Japan who is well known for teaching meditation in the corporate sector and when I shared stories with him that I call coincidence, he told me, "Funny how that works, right? Maybe you were meant to see that. Maybe that wasn't a coincidence." Which leads me back to Danielle's quote.
When you're on the right path; when you're dating the right person; when you're doing the work that you love; when you see a heart on the side of the road, you are on the right path. The encouragement is there for you to see and use to keep pushing forward.
*Special thank you to Danielle LaPorte for allowing me to use her quote. I promise I was not trying to write this like a #truthbomb!
